A Little About Us……………………
My family has been in the Metal and Machining trades since 1921.
Plasma Torch Protection System got its start over 30 years ago in our shop as we found a need for plasma torch protection. At the time we were operating two different manufactures CNC plasma cutting tables and found right after installation we needed to develop some kind of protection for the plasma torches.
Our entry to CNC plasma 30 years ago was first with a CNC table that had a manufacturer supplied gantry and a customer build table. A year later the other, a mid-level cost factory CNC cutting table, was added. Both were 4 by 10 foot cutting tables. These CNC units replaced an old panagraph cutting unit and a Linde electronic tracing eye that had been converted over from oxy-acetylene to early plasma back in the dark ages when we had to use Co2 and nitrogen gas to plasma cut. No, this was not high definition plasma. The plasma torch actually had a sharpened tungsten electrode.
At the time most basic entry level CNC cutting tables were sold without any plasma torch protection.
We immediately found this was a not good. We looked around and there were in fact a couple of plasma torch protection systems offered by the very high end plasma CNC cutting table manufacturers. Some of these units were over $2,500.00 and in most cases higher.
So out of necessity we decided to build our own! After thousands of hours of arc on cutting time with different CNC cutting tables and a lot of thought and engineering along the way we decided that our protection systems worked so well that we should offer them to the CNC cutting world.
Early on, our very first design was a plasma torch holder with a circuit control which allowed the plasma torch to swing to a certain degree out of harm’s way in the event of a crash. At the same time it would trip an internal switch that would control both gantry movement and plasma arc.
It worked quite well and we sold a lot of them. As times and technology have changed most CNC cutting tables stop their gantry movement in the event of lost plasma arc. Due to the complexity of building these circuit control stop units it became apparent that we could build a line of magnetic breakaway plasma torch holders and provide the same protection as the circuit control stop and perform even better overall at an affordable price.
Now with the use of safety lanyards on all models, as well as, the built in micro switch our magnetic breakaways lead all others in plasma torch protection.
We have always believed in only building the best quality products possible all of our Plasma Torch Protection Systems are made entirely of American origin materials, machined and assembled entirely in the USA!
